Brecker Grossmith can advise on all aspects of a company’s rating liability. Our surveyors provide specialist advice on all property types, and possess particular expertise in respect of retail, offices and industrial properties. We will analyse your Rateable Value and advise whether there is any valid adjustment.
The rateable value of a property is assessed by the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) every 5 years and the rules and regulations are varied at least as frequently and often more frequently. The Rateable Value (RV) is the VOA's opinion of the rental value of the property two years before the start of the valuation list.
The assessments prepared by the VOA are not necessarily correct so excessive costs could be incurred by the ratepayer.
We advise using experts to ensure that a saving does result from action taken. The rateable value is not the amount you pay. A multiplier is applied to the RV to calculate the rates payable. The multiplier is set by the government and may alter from year to year.
We are happy to act on either a fixed fee basis or as a percentage of savings achieved. On either basis, no fees will be submitted until an appeal is settled and a refund received should the appeal be successful. Minimum fees may apply.
